The United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon has expressed deep concern over the ongoing clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants, warning that the situation could spiral into a regional conflict with devastating consequences.
As tensions continue to escalate, UNIFIL spokesman Andrea Tenenti emphasized the potential “catastrophic impact for everyone” if the violence is not contained and controlled in a well-organized manner.
Moreover, over 1,200 people have been killed and millions displaced, highlighting the urgent need for de-escalation.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces have issued warnings to residents of southern Lebanon to avoid returning home as the military continues to target Hezbollah strongholds.

In a series of recent incidents, Israeli airstrikes reportedly killed nine people near Beirut.
Furthermore, the UN has also reported that five peacekeepers were wounded in separate attacks in the region, with growing concerns that peacekeeping forces are being deliberately targeted.
French President Emmanuel Macron described the attacks as intentional.
Efforts to mediate a ceasefire have so far stalled, with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati urging the UN Security Council to intervene.
“There is no safe place,” said a local resident, voicing the fear and despair shared by many as the violence continues.
