Watford Terminates Nigerian Striker Samuel Kalu’s Contract, Paving Way for New Opportunities

Watford Football Club has officially terminated the contract of Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu, following a mutual agreement between the player and the club.

The decision, confirmed on August 30, marks the end of Kalu’s challenging stint with the English Championship side.

The 27-year-old, who joined Watford from French club Bordeaux in January 2022, struggled to secure regular playing time due to recurring injuries and inconsistent form, ultimately limiting his impact on the pitch.

Throughout his time with Watford, Kalu made 13 appearances across all competitions, including four in the Premier League, but was unable to register any goals or assists.

In search of more consistent playing opportunities, Kalu was loaned to Lausanne-Sport in the Swiss Super League for the 2023/2024 season.

During his loan spell, he made 21 appearances and contributed to five goals, showing glimpses of his potential and reminding fans of his talent.

Now a free agent, Kalu has the chance to reinvent his career and seek new opportunities, even after the close of the summer transfer window.

This presents a pivotal moment for the Nigerian striker to further develop his skills and regain his form, with the potential to become a sought-after player once again. His next move could be crucial in reigniting his career and making a significant impact, both for himself and for his nation.
