Wike Accuses PDP Governors of Deceitful Behavior, Citing Lack of Leadership Integrity

During a state congress at the PDP Secretariat in Port Harcourt on August 31, former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, criticized several governors within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for what he described as two-faced dealings with President Bola Tinubu.

According to Wike, these governors privately express support for the president while publicly taking a different stance. He remarked, “They love the president at night but say a different thing during the day.”

Wike defended his controversial decision to oppose the PDP in the last presidential election, citing the party’s failure to uphold justice, fairness, and equity as his reasons.

He emphasized that his actions were driven by a commitment to principle rather than party loyalty.

“When Buhari was there, you never saw me play two sides; I never went to the villa at night only to come out in the day to shout,” Wike stated, contrasting his behavior with that of some current PDP leaders.

The minister further highlighted the lack of transparency and accountability within the government, which has eroded public trust.

He suggested that the deceptive behavior of some officials contributes to the nation’s challenges and the increasing desire among citizens to leave the country.

Wike concluded by urging leaders to be men of character and integrity, stating, “An armed robber is an armed robber any day, any time,” referring to those he believes are misleading the public.
