The Zamfara State Government has issued a stern warning to communities allegedly providing shelter to bandits, threatening to demolish such areas.
This follows the recent ambush and killing of nine Community Protection Guards (CPG) by bandits along the Tsafe-Funtua road in the community.
Deputy Governor, Malam Mani Mummuni, made this known during a visit to Tsafe Emirate to offer condolences, particularly pointing fingers at the Maikwanugga community for aiding the criminals and giving them information just for their own selfish self.
Mummuni expressed disappointment in the residents, accusing them of allowing bandits to stay overnight and launching the deadly attack on security operatives who were deployed to protect travelers.
“The village is just less than half a kilometer from the main road, but they decided to be used by bandits against our security operatives.”
Mummuni said, adding that the government would not tolerate actions that undermine efforts to secure the state.
Moreover, the Deputy Governor emphasized the government’s commitment to rooting out those sabotaging the state’s fight against insecurity.
The government’s decision has also renewed confidence among residents, who are expected to cooperate with security agencies in their efforts to restore peace to the state.
Mummuni vowed that the betrayal of innocent lives would not be overlooked.
