Police Dismiss Rumored Planned Attack on University of Abuja, Call for Vigilance

The FCT Police Command has dismissed rumors circulating online regarding an alleged planned abduction at the University of Abuja, Nigeria.

 In a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the reports were described as “false and misleading,” with the intention of instilling unnecessary fear among students and residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

 Adeh reassured the public, stating, “The Command reiterates its commitment to securing and safeguarding the lives and property of residents in the FCT.”

However, she further emphasized that the police have adequately deployed personnel and equipment to ensure security at the University of Abuja and other areas within the FCT capital to ensure safety measures.

The command urged residents to remain calm but vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the provided emergency contact numbers that have been made available.

 Meanwhile, there have been calls for stricter social media policies to prevent the spread of false information that can lead to public panic.

The police urged citizens to exercise caution and discernment regarding the news they consume online, while also calling on students to remain mindful of their movements to avoid any potential harm.
